Saithe loin without skin and bones is a great choice for fish lovers. Although its grey-red flesh may not be the most attractive at first glance, its taste will pleasantly surprise you. It has a balanced ratio of fats and proteins, making it ideal for various culinary preparations. It is wonderfully suited for sauces, batters, or breadcrumbs.

Fish from Iceland are among the healthiest and tastiest in Europe. The surrounding cold waters are not contaminated with dangerous substances, and the fish here have ideal conditions for their growth and development. The method of fishing is also crucial for us.     Wild-Caught Fish

    The protection of (not only) marine life is important to us, which is why we adhere to sustainable fishing practices in our production. The fish you will find in our offer are therefore caught wild by boats that go out to sea in the morning and fish using hooks and lines. These are not boats with large seine nets that decimate all living things. Wild fishing is gentle on the fish, sparing it stress before killing.

    We Freeze Differently

    We freeze fish in such a way that you have meat at home of a quality that differs little from the moment shortly after being caught. Fishing takes place on small fishing boats that go out to sea in the morning and return in the evening, which is why our fish are portioned, packed, and frozen within 24 hours of being caught. This avoids the depletion of marine ecosystems and the waste of so-called "unsuitable catches", as happens when freezing on large floating factories that stay at sea for days or weeks.

    No Added Water

    We do not need to artificially increase the weight of products by adding water to the muscle tissue of frozen fish. You can recognise such fish by the first taste; as soon as the water is released during thermal processing, you are left with tasteless meat.

    The only (and only acceptable) form of water content in frozen foods is a protective glaze. This is applied to the surface of fish or seafood (e.g., shrimp) and thus protects the fish from freezer burn. This protective layer ranges between 5-20% and must always be stated in the product's ingredients! Therefore, if the fish is not vacuum-packed, water in the form of a protective glaze is actually desirable for maintaining quality.

    I am grateful that Boxxi exists, because I have the opportunity to buy fish somewhere that I trust is from sustainable farming, that it will be healthy and beneficial to health. I'm just afraid they might have to close down again. That would be a great shame. I think there are few fish shops like this that care about ecology. Very few.
    Great tuna, great salmon. Both went into sushi, part (tuna) into tartare. Both dishes were absolutely excellent. And the service in the shop? Perfect, helpful, advised on how to defrost. I will come here; I am glad that such shops exist. Big thumbs up.
