Jakub Šamšula, Hibernal

Quality Wine with Special Attributes late harvest year: 2019 Bouquet Volume: 0.75 l

We may first be enraptured by the yellow-green colour with shades of straw. The aroma follows with the penetrating notes of dried elderflower and red grapefruit and a herbal evocation of thyme. The flavour is full yet lively with the dynamic presence of overripe pineapple, lemon, and gooseberry.

About the winery

This artisan winery is located in Čejkovic in the Greater Pavlovice region of South Moravia. It specialises in the production of a limited selection of "přívlastkové" wine (ie. the highest category of wines according to the Czech wine law, corresponding to the familiar "Appellation d'origine contrôlée" found on French wines). These wines are produced from vines which have been expertly thinned to reduce yield with a compensatory increase in quality. The focus of the winery is the production of dry wines which are, for the most part, matured in barrels.

This family winery is the vocation and everyday challenge of Jakub Šamšula. The wines are divided into four categories (Traditionnel, Bouquet, Grand Pinot, and Naturel) according to their origin, variety, and the methods used in their maturation.
