Mussels are a very pleasurable ingredient. Their excellent taste stands out thanks to cooking with various spices, vegetables and wine. You can enjoy them French style with a baguette, Belgian style with french fries, or Spanish style in a traditional paella. They are full of vitamins, nutrients and beautiful sea fragrant.
Although cooking from mussels is easy, there are a few rules to follow when preparing them:
- Rinse the mussels in water. Those that are broken or cracked must be thrown away.
- Before cooking, try to close the open mussels slightly. If it stays closed, it is alive. If it reopens, throw it away. Dead mussels could cause you unpleasant problems.
- After cooking, it's exactly the opposite - the finished mussels open. If one stays closed, it is inedible and you should throw it away.
- 1 kg of mussels is enough to serve 2 people

The quality of mussels and oysters is closely linked to the environment in which they are grown. The mussels and oysters are kept far from the coast on the high seas, where they are constantly supplied with clean ocean water rich in plankton. Due to their low density, they have plenty of room to grow, have a high meat content and clean shells without mud or sand. The mussels and oysters are grown by the family business in the most traditional place for mussels - in the Yerseke area. Thanks to careful management, they have an overview of each piece, so-called from start to finish.
After harvesting, the mussels and oysters are transported to the mainland, where they are stored in large seawater tanks and thoroughly cleaned and sorted. Only those mussels and oysters that are in the best condition are packed and transported to the Boxxi warehouse.
